Project Description

The purpose of this video is to inform the viewer on the importance of wearing ear protection at concerts in order to prevent any long-lasting hearing damage. All of the animations in this video were made by first illustrating each graphic in Adobe Illustrator, then importing them into Adobe After Effects to be animated.

Video Script

INTRO

“Concerts are a fun place to be”

  • Scene of a crowd jumping in front of a stage, fades in from blurry to clear

“But it can get PRETTY loud.”

  • Sound waves come out of speakers

“And if you dont take proper care of your ears at concerts, it can have a big effect on your hearing.”

  • Cut to someone with their hands over their ears, starts out with an unhappy expression to a stressed expression as more sound waves appear

“One of the biggest side effects of not wearing hearing protection is tinnitus. That ringing in your ears after the concert will never go away!”

  • Cuts to person in bed trying to sleep, with annoyed face
  • Ringing noise is playing in background, and person puts pillow over face

“Along with this, you can also suffer minor to severe hearing loss as a result of not wearing proper protection.”

  • Person at the doctors getting ears checked out
  • Doctor says something, and the person frowns and puts hand up to ear

MIDDLE

“Luckily, there are a couple different ways you can protect your ears at concerts!”

  • Cut to the silhouettes of foam earplugs, professional earplugs, and headphones all flying onto the screen from the top
  • The silhouettes all become visible one by one from left to right

“Foam earplugs are the cheapest and easiest ways to protect your ears.”

  • The camera zooms in on the foam earplugs, and a couple more different kinds of foam earplugs fly onto the screen from the left and right

“But some people find them uncomfortable.”

  • The earplugs fall down off the screen

“This is where expensive/professional earplugs come in!”

  • Person flies onto screen from bottom, holding a pair of professional earplugs while smiling
  • Spinning sunburst background

“These are styled more like earbuds, and are more comfortable to wear at the cost of a higher price.”

  • Person puts the earplugs into their ears
  • Zoom into ear, shows earplug fitting in well
  • Price tag appears on earplug after higher price is mentioned

“Of course, some people just don’t like earbuds at all. And that’s okay! Another great solution is Noise cancelling headphones.”

  • Ear animation falls off screen in a similar way to the foam earplugs
  • Outline of headphones appears using a trim path before revealing the headphones

END

“These fit around your whole ear, and can provide an even more way to feel comfortable at concerts.”

  • Person wearing headphones shows up from the bottom, and is bouncing to the beat of music
  • Crowd and concert appears after them

“No matter what option you choose, protecting your hearing is extremely important. Remember to protect yourself!”

  • Same shot as the beginning with the crowd at the concert, with a person that stands out
  • They have headphones on, and as the sound waves come out of the speaker, they are unaffected and continue dancing and smiling
